A pandémia miatt egy évvel későbbre halasztott labdarúgó kontinensviadal “árnyékában” június 17-től 27-ig, azaz napjainkban kerül lebonyolításra a felnőtt női kosárlabda Európa-bajnokság 16 nemzeti válogatott részvételével. A rangos tornának Francia-, és Spanyolország a házigazdái, azon belül is Strasbourg és Valencia városai a rendezők. Rózsás Gábor összeállítása. 

A magyar válogatottnak sajnos nem sikerült kivívnia a részvételt, azonban a honi pontvadászatot rendszeresen követők nagyon sok ismerős névvel találkozhatnak a résztvevő nemzetek kereteiben, illetve szakmai stábjaiban. A teljesség igénye nélkül Görögország soraiban ott van Spanou és Sotiriou, a szerb válogatottnál Brooks, Crvendakic, Krajisnik és Skoric, Szlovénia csapatában szerepel Friskovec, Lisec és Oblak, s további 6 nemzeti csapat kereteiben is találhatunk korábban vagy jelenleg Magyarországon kosárlabdázó hölgyeket.

A ZTE NKK szimpatizánsai számára azonban a legérdekesebb együttes a napokban épp történelmi sikereket elérő Bosznia és Hercegovina válogatottja, soraiban két korábbi játékosunkkal. A még mindig csak 25 éves, 181 cm magas, sokoldalú hátvéd Andjela Delic a 2019/2020-as szezonban erősítette csapatunkat és volt tevékeny részese a Magyar Kupa bronzérem megszerzésének, míg a 175 cm magas, csupaszív irányító, Miljana Dzombeta a nemrég záruló pontvadászatban volt csapatunk vezére. 

A bosnyák hölgyek bravúrral indítottak, ugyanis sokak nagy meglepetésére magabiztosan győzték le a kiváló erőkből álló belga válogatottat 70-55 arányban rögtön a nyitónapon. Másnap a törökök távoztak vereséggel a parkettről (64-54) a második félidőben parádés teljesítményt nyújtó délszlávok ellen. Egyetlen rövidke pihenőnapot követően június 20-án, vasárnap jöhetett is a harmadik csoportmérkőzés a csapatok számára. Szlovénia ellen egy kifejezetten pontgazdag (81-91) mérkőzésen maradt alul Andjela és Miljana válogatottja, de a körbeveréseknek köszönhetően a második helyen zárták a csoportot és jutottak tovább. A négy csoportelső automatikusan a legjobb  8 csapat közé került, míg a 2. és 3. helyezettek keresztjátékkal döntöttek a negyeddöntőbe történő kvalifikációról, míg a csoportok utolsó helyezettjei búcsúztak a kontinensviadaltól.

Hétfőn este 18 órakor Bosznia és Hercegovina csapata a szomszédos Horvátország ellenében küzdhetett meg a továbbjutásért. Az első félidőben inkább a horvátok akarata érvényesült, de szorosan tapadtak rájuk a kék-sárgák, s a második félidőben ellenállhatatlanul, nagy akarattal küzdve végül kétvállra fektették riválisukat és jutottak megérdemelten a negyeddöntőbe. A horvátoknál a Szekszárd csapatából jól ismert Ivana Dojkic volt a legjobb teljesítményt nyújtó játékos 22 ponttal, 7 lepattanóval és a számolatlanul kiharcolt személyi hibával, a bosnyákoknál pedig a 198 cm magas amerikai származású center, Jonqual Jones volt a palánkok közelében tarthatatlan, ő 24 pontig, 17 lepattanóig és 3 dobásblokkolásig jutott. A találkozó kulcs-, momentumai és teljesítménye azonban egyértelműen a két Zalaegerszegen is megforduló hölgy neveihez fűződtek. A harmadik negyed derekán 39-44-es állásnál került parkettre ismét az addig is jól teljesítő Dzombeta, s a már általunk is jól ismert lelkes és pimasz védekezésével, valamint gólratörő, ponterős játékával két perccel később a mérkőzés folyamán a vezetésével először juttatta előnyhöz hazája csapatát. Innentől jó ideig fej-fej mellett haladtak a csapatok. A záró periódusban három percen át nem tudtak a bosnyákok betalálni a mezőnyből, majd lezérva a kosárcsendet 54-53-as állásnál “Mili” gólpasszából “Ángyó” szerzett rendkívül fontos triplát. Lépéselőnybe kerültek a sárgamezes bosnyákok, akik innentől lassan, de biztosan építgették az előnyüket a szívósan küzdő horvátok ellen. Kettő és fél perccel a vége előtt, 70-64-es állásnál Miljana Dzombeta adta meg a kegyelemdöfést a riválisnak egy a jobb sarokból tökéletesen útjára indított hárompontossal.A végeredmény 80-69, így Bosznia és Hercegovina nemzeti csapata történelme legjobb szereplését hozva bejutott a legjobb 8 csapat közé az Európa-bajnokságon, ahol június 23-án, szerda este 18 órakor a bombaerős, s hazai pályán szereplő francia válogatott vár rájuk.

Andjela Delic a bosnyák válogatott alapembere volt az első négy mérkőzésen, átlagban 18 játékperc alatt 7 ponttal, 2 lepattanóval és 1 gólpasszal segítve csapatát, míg Miljana Dzombeta a három csoportmeccsen mindössze 25 percet tölthetett a parketten, ennek ellenére a döntő szituációban ő is kiváló teljesítményt nyújtott, s lett a kieséses szakaszban csapata hőse. Remek produktumának köszönhetően 24 percet tölthetett a pályán, s ezalatt 14 pontot és 5 lepattanót gyűjtött, ezeken felül volt továbbá 2-2 gólpassza és labdaszerzése is. 

A ZTE NKK nevében ezúton is szeretnénk gratulálni a két játékosnak és nemzeti csapatuknak, s további szép sikereket kívánunk nekik!

Bosnian miracle at the Women’s Eurobasket starring with our former players
“In the shadow” of the continental football tournament (which is postponed a year due to pandemic) the European Women's Basketball Championship hold from 17 to 27 June, with 16 national teams. The prestigious tournament is hosted by France and Spain, including the cities of Strasbourg and Valencia.  
Unfortunately, the Hungarian national team has not qualified, but those who regularly follow the Hungarian Championship can see a lot of familiar names in the national team’s rosters and staff. Without the need for completeness: Spanou and Sotiriou are in the roster of Greece; Brooks, Crvendakic, Krajisnik and Skoric are in the Serbian National Team; Friskovec, Lisec and Oblak plays for Slovenia and there are 6 other national teams which contains name of ladies who play or played basketball in Hungary now or earlier.
However, for the sympathizers of ZTE NKK the most interesting ensemble is the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has recently achieved historic success with two former players of our beloved club. Andjela Delic, the still only 25 years old, 181 cm tall, versatile shooting guard strengthened our team in the 2019/2020 season and was an active part of the Hungarian Cup bronze medal, while 175 cm tall, all-hearted point guard Miljana Dzombeta was the leader of our team in the recently completed season.
The Bosnian ladies started with a bravado - as to the surprise of many -, they confidently beaten the very strong Belgian national team (70-55) on the opening day. On the next day, the Turks left the floor with a loss (64-54) against the Southern Slavics who played very well in the 2nd half after a weaker 1st one. After a pretty short rest later the third group match was held on Sunday, 20th of June. Against Slovenia their team lost in a particularly points-rich (81-91) battle, but  inside the round-up they ended the group in second place and reached the next, elimination round. The four winner teams of the groups were automatically placed into the top eight, while the 2nd and 3rd place finishers decided against each other by cross-play, the last runners-up in the groups finished the tournament.
At 6 pm on Monday, Bosnia and Herzegovina fought for promotion against their neighbours, Croatia. In the first half, the Croatians were more likely to prevail, but they were closely clinging to the blue-and-yellows. After halftime break they irresistibly fighting with great will, and finally put their rivals on two fronts and deservedly reached the quarter-finals. Guard Ivana Dojkic, well-known in Hungary for her former team Szekszárd was the best-performing player with 22 points, seven rebounds and lot of forced fouls, while The Bosnians best statistical performer was the American-born, 6-foot-6 center Jonqual Jones, who finished the party with 24 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots. However the key moments and performance of this game are related to the names of the two ladies who played earlier in Zalaegerszeg. Dzombeta, who had already done well earlier in the 1st half, came back to the fight at mid-third quarter (39-44), and with his spirited and brash defense and point-strong performance two minutes later her great performance gave the lead to her country's team for the first time in the game. The teams went head-to-head, the Bosnians failed to score for three minutes in the beginning of the fourth quarter, than at 54-53, Miljana's gave an assist to Andjela, who scored a very-very important triple. The yellow-jersey Bosnians slowly but surely built their advantage against the tenatic Croatians, who then at 70-64, two and a half minutes before the 4th period end gave the coup de grace as a perfectly launched 3-pointer from the right corner by Miljana Dzombeta. The final score was 80-69. Bosnia and Herzegovina's national team reached to the top eight, this is the best performance for them, so this is historical. They will play agasint the extremly strong French National Team which is playing on home soil at 6 pm on Wednesday 23rd of June.
Andjela Delic was on of the Bosnian National Team's main man in the first four games, averaging seven points, two rebounds and an assist in 18 minutes of playing time per game, while Miljana Dzombeta spent only 25 minutes on the floor in the three group games, but she also performed superbly in the decisive situation and became the hero of her team and nation in the knockout stage. She collected 14 points and five rebounds in 24 minutes of playing time and had 2-2 assists and steals too in the clash against Croatia.
